McCowan Library Hires New Director

The McCowan Memorial Library Board of Directors is pleased to announce that they have hired Andrew Coldren for the position of Library Director, replacing Sharon Furgason following her scheduled retirement in December.

The Board would like to take the opportunity to thank Sharon for her many years of dedicated service to both the McCowan Library and to the larger library community. Sharon has been a great asset to the library and will be very much missed. We truly hope that Sharon enjoys many adventures as she begins a new chapter in her life.

Mr. Coldren comes to the McCowan Library from the Salem County Historical Society where he served as Administrator and Curator. He has a Batchelor of Arts in Anthropology from Temple University and a Master of Arts in American History from Villanova University. He has worked as curator of the former Civil War Museum of Philadelphia and has curated special exhibits in Philadelphia and Miami. Mr. Coldren also earned a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. During his time there, he worked as the Reserve Room Supervisor in the Circulation Department of the W.W. Hagerty Library on the Drexel campus.

Andrew comes to the McCowan Library committed to the idea that the public library is the heart and soul of a community. Commitment to that community and an emphasis on providing customers with the resources and materials they need as well as on great customer service will be the emphasis of the McCowan Library going forward.

The Board of Directors is excited to begin this new phase at McCowan, and we welcome everyone to come to the Library, experience this great community resource and welcome the new Director.
